On May 19, 2026, Senators James Lankford (R-OK) and Jacky Rosen (D-NV) introduced the Jewish American Security Act (S. 4576), a bipartisan bill designed to track and address rising antisemitism in the United States in ways that will decrease the occurrence. This legislation recognizes that “Jewish Americans have faced an unprecedented rise in antisemitic incidents since the Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel” (October 7, 2023), including increasing attacks in the digital universe, physical attacks on people and synagogues, and attacks on Jewish students. This legislation:

• requires the Department of Education to develop and implement a framework that will combat antisemitism on college campuses.
• allows the Department of Justice to give grants to state and local law enforcement agencies to support increased policing, patrols, and training for at-risk entities.
• requires the FBI, Homeland Security, and the National Counterterrorism Center to annually create a joint threat assessment report related to “antisemitic violent domestic extremism in the United States.” By statute, that report must be given to all appropriate Congressional committees, a declassified version must be made available on the FBI’s website.
• requires social media platforms to publish a transparency report highlighting their content moderation practices, along with their efforts to “detect, remove, limit the visibility of, and prevent the amplification of antisemitic content….” This information is reported annually to Congress by the Secretary of Commerce, in consultation with the U.S. Attorney General and the Secretary of Homeland Security.

There is no companion legislation in the House of Representatives.
